Travel Blog – Cross Country Roadtrip from AZ to OH

Hi lovelies!

I’m back today with another travel blog! A few posts back I wrote a travel blog detailing my cross country road trip from my hometown in Columbus, OH to Phoenix, AZ. In that trip I was riding out west with my fiancé so we could drop him off at his military training. This time it was time to pick him up! I flew out to Phoenix to meet him and we did another cross country road trip back, but this time we stopped in a whole new set of cities (and I wore a whole new set of outfits of course). 😊 It was such a fun trip and one that I will always remember.

Phoenix, AZ

We started this trip where the last trip ended – Phoenix, AZ! This was the only repeat city we visited from our last trip. It was SO nice leaving a 20 degree Ohio and stepping off the plane into a 70 degree Arizona. Kyle and I were so excited to be together again and we really wanted to enjoy the city while still keeping it lowkey and making sure we were spending plenty of quality time together. The first night we spent walking around downtown and of course visiting a yummy restaurant. The restaurant we visited was called Majerle’s Sports Grill and it was delicious! Coincidentally, our waitress was from Ohio. After dinner we walked around downtown some more and snapped a few pictures at some cute photo opps around the city. The next morning we took a walk to the downtown Dunkin’ Donuts and then visited the Arizona State Capitol (Kyle and I love visiting State Capitol buildings whenever we can). It was a great start to our trip!

Outfit Details:

On the first night I wanted to keep it casual and comfortable since I knew we were keeping it lowkey and I also knew we would be doing a lot of walking downtown. I wore a lightweight black sweater from Rosie Daze Boutique and a pair of my favorite distressed girlfriend fit jeans from Dottie Couture Boutique. My sneakers are SUPER comfortable while still being on trend. The sneakers are also from Rosie Daze Boutique. My second outfit is a little bit more dressy because I knew we would be doing a little more that day but I also wanted to maximize comfortability again. I wore a lightweight teal sweater tunic with some black leggings. I paired it with knee high boots to really dress the look up. The leggings and tunic are from Hazel & Olive Boutique and the boots are from Dottie Couture Boutique. Additionally, I threw in some cute accessories to help elevate the outfit and really tie it together. My leopard headband is from Target and my earrings are from GR Clay Co.

El Paso, TX

The next city we visited was El Paso, TX! This was Kyle and I’s first time in El Paso and it did not disappoint. We arrived kind of late so we decided to keep our first night simple and just get dinner. I did some research on some fun restaurants to visit in El Paso and I came across this restaurant called Track One. The restaurant is literally located inside of a train car which was super cool. There was also some great photo opps around the restaurant itself so we made sure to snap some pictures while we waited for our table. The next day we decided to walk around downtown a little bit and ended up getting coffee at an adorable coffee shop called the Coffee Box. I wish we could have spent more time in this beautiful city, but it was definitely a fun little stop!

Outfit Details:

I kept my outfit casual both days since I knew we were keeping the activities simple but for dinner I did want to dress the outfit up a little bit. I wore this orange/teal flannel with the same distressed girlfriend jeans from the night before. I added cream colored booties to help dress the look up for the nights festivities. The flannel and jeans are from Dottie Couture Boutique and the booties are from Shop Unraveling Grace Boutique. The second day I wore this adorable confetti sweater from Typically Blush Boutique, some black leggings from Hazel and Olive Boutique, and my favorite black fur lined mules from Target. These are the most comfortable shoes and they are perfect for traveling because they are slip-ons that don’t restrict your feet. I have worn the heck out of these things! I accessorized the outfit with the same leopard headband from Target that I wore the previous day.

Dallas, TX

Dallas was one of the cities Kyle and I were most excited for so we decided to make this stop 2 days. Turns out Texas is about as big as the Earth itself so the trip from El Paso to Dallas was the longest of the whole entire journey. We got in pretty late at night so we decided to order from a local pizza place and watch Netflix. We ordered from ZaLat’s pizza (which was some of the best pizza I have ever had in my entire life – highly recommend)! The next day we hit the ground running with activities. We started off with brunch at a restaurant called Ellen’s downtown. Then we decided to visit the Sixth Floor Museum which details the history behind the assassination of President JFK. It was a surreal experience standing in the spot where the whole event occurred, but Kyle and I definitely learned a lot. Next, we visited Dealy Plaza downtown before heading outside of downtown to visit the beautiful Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. It was refreshing to end the evening in a serene environment full of nature. We ended up getting dinner at a downtown restaurant called Chophouse Burger where I ended up getting the best milkshake I have ever had in my entire life (I still miss it). There is so much to do in Dallas, it was impossible to pack it into two days but we definitely had a blast with the time we had.

Outfit Details:

I wanted to dress up a little more for the full day in Dallas so I wore this cold shoulder leopard sweater dress from Dottie Couture Boutique. Sweater dresses are amazing because it looks like you put effort into your outfit when really you just threw on one piece. Not to mention, they are so comfortable! I paired it with the same cream booties from Shop Unraveling Grace Boutique but when my feet got tired later in the day I decided to switch the booties out for my black fur lined mules from Target. My gold hoops are also from Target!

Little Rock, AR

One of the reasons I wanted to visit Little Rock was because of the history behind this city. This is the home of the Little Rock 9 and Kyle and I really wanted to educate ourselves on this historical event and honor the courage of these individuals. We visited the Little Rock 9 Museum and visited Central High School itself, the high school is by far one of the most beautiful schools I have ever seen architecturally and it was so surreal seeing it in person and reflecting on the events that occurred here. Next, we visited the Arkansas State Capitol and walked around the premises of this beautiful building and the different monuments and memorials surrounding it. We ended the evening with dinner at the Big Orange, a delicious restaurant with amazing burgers and floats.

Outfit Details:

I wanted to wear a cute, southern-y outfit in Arkansas so I decided to wear this camel colored dress from Typically Blush Boutique and pair it with the same knee high boots from Dottie Couture Boutique that I wore in Phoenix. I thought they paired perfect with the dress and helped elevate the look. Lastly, I accessorized with the same leopard headband from Target that I love, plus the color tones were perfect with this outfit!

Nashville, TN

Next up was a city Kyle and I have both been to before but had to visit again because it’s one of my favorite cities ever – NASHVILLE. Nashville has always felt like home to me because the people here are so nice and the vibes here are always the best. Nashville was also significantly less crowded than normal which made it even more fun for Kyle and I because it felt like we had the whole city to ourselves. The first night we got dinner at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville where there was some awesome live music playing. After that we walked around downtown a little bit and did some shopping. The next day we hit up Biscuit Love for breakfast and walked around the Gulch. Then we headed outside of the city and visited Bell Meade Mansion and winery. We learned a lot about the history of the mansion and all about the horses that lived here and went on to breed some of the best race horses in the world. After this, we visited Opry Mills mall and did some more shopping before heading to dinner at a DELICIOUS pizza place called Two Boots Nashville. We had breakfast the next morning at E+Rose Wellness Cafe which was probably one of the cutest cafes I have ever been in. Leaving Nashville is always so hard (we even stayed longer than the other cities) but we will definitely be back!

Outfit Details:

I decided to rock another fun dress, this time a green/orange tie dye sweatshirt dress from Rosie Daze Boutique with the same knee high boots from Dottie Couture Boutique. Cute, casual, and fun!

Louisville, KY

The last stop on our trip was Louisville, KY! The first night we arrived it was pouring rain so we decided to keep the first night lowkey and just get dinner. My brother and sister in law recently visited Louisville and were able to give Kyle and I lots of recommendations. We had dinner at Bluegrass Brewing Co. which was a rustic bar/pub style restaurant that was delicious. We had breakfast the next morning at The Wild Egg where I had the best omelet I’ve ever had – a buffalo chicken omelet! Next we headed to the Kentucky Derby Museum and Churchill Downs where we received a private tour. I learned so much about the incredible world of horse racing and horse breeding. This was probably my favorite excursion of the whole trip!

Outfit Details:

I wore a comfortable outfit for the last day of the trip but I dressed it up with this black and white plaid shacket that is both cute and practical as the weather was getting colder and colder the closer we got to Ohio. ❄️😅 My ruffle trimmed tank top, black leggings, and my black fur lined mules are from Target.

We had an absolute blast on this trip, each city was so unique and offered something different from the last. I am so glad to have Kyle home with me now and I’m so thankful for the memories we made!

I hope you all are staying warm, lets hope for some spring weather soon! 🌸🌼🌻🌷🌹

Holiday Outfit Guide & Giveaway

Hi lovelies!

I feel like it has been forever since my last blog post! I was supposed to have this blog up last week but unfortunately I wasn’t able to, so I’m excited to be back today with a holiday outfit guide! I had a couple people reach out to me and request this (thank you so much 🥺). It means a lot knowing people enjoy the content I love making!

A goal I have for this holiday season is to support more small businesses. I will be mentioning a couple of my favorite small boutiques several times throughout this blog, and I am so excited to promote their beautiful pieces and help you with ideas on how to style them! Stay tuned for the end to learn about a special giveaway I am doing. 🤩

Outfit 1:

This outfit is such a classic, put together look for any of your *small* (thanks, Covid) holiday gatherings or events. I don’t know about you but I am a HUGE sweater girl. My sweater collection is probably my favorite part about my wardrobe. They are SO cozy, flattering, and stylish. This one in particular is definitely an eye catcher. I love the cream and gray stitched stripe detailing because I think it keeps the sweater simple while still standing out from a solid color sweater. I paired it with these dark wash denim skinny jeans (which are some of my favorite skinny jeans in my closet right now). 😍 They have minimal distressing and a raw hem at the bottom which is so trendy. Lastly, I naturally paired this outfit with a camel colored bootie. Booties elevate any outfit and take it from “casual” to “casual, cute, and put together” which I LOVE. Of course any sweater, jean, and bootie combo would work for this outfit idea but I love these particular pieces together! You could also opt for leggings instead of jeans if you want an even comfier option. Not to mention – All of these pieces are from a small boutique! 😍

Details:

Sweater – Haley Sweater from Rosie Daze Boutique

Jeans – Isla Kan Cans from Rosie Daze Boutique

Booties – Came to Slay Booties in Tan from Rosie Daze Boutique

Outfit 2:

This outfit is a great option for a more dressy look! I have never been a huge skirt person but this season they are definitely growing on me. Faux leather skirts in particular are always a huge hit! I paired this gorgeous tan leather skirt with a black sweater and black booties. I love the tie detailing on the front of the skirt as well as the ruffle trim on the bottom. This skirt is also INCREDIBLY flattering. Of course you could pair any top of your choice with this skirt, but I like the sleekness of a black top with a tan bottom. I also think a cute pair of black booties really ties it all together! I love the snakeskin-esque detailing on these particular booties. Thigh highs would also look amazing with this outfit!

Details:

Sweater – H&M

Skirt – Freed Vegan Faux Leather Skirt in Tan from Rosie Daze Boutique

Booties – H&M

Outfit 3:

This option is for all of my fellow girly girls out there! How darling is this dress? So simple and versatile but also so girly and cute. I love the little bow detail on the back as well. I wore the black version of this dress for my birthday and I received so many compliments on it! I decided to pair it with thigh high black boots because I feel like it really takes any dress like this to the next level. Fun fact: I have never owned thigh highs until this season when I finally bit the bullet and I am SO happy I did. They really elongate your legs and are so flattering.

Details:

Dress – So Obsessed Dress in Tan from Typically Blush Boutique

Boots – Amazon

Outfit 4:

This outfit is so cute I could honestly cry. This takes the “sweater and jeans” combo to the next level! This cream popcorn babydoll top is so unique. I love how it’s a sweater but it’s also a babydoll/peplum style. It’s also SO soft because of the popcorn material. I can’t get over how darling it is! I received so many compliments on this top when I wore it. I paired it with these burgundy jeans because I love the combo of cream or ivory with burgundy. Olive jeans would also be cute with this and of course either leggings (the shirt is long enough) or dark wash denim would always work too. I topped this outfit off with the same camel colored booties from the first outfit because I love them so much. ❤️

Details:

Top – Follow Me Peplum Top in Cream from Typically Blush Boutique

Jeans – Brooke Burgundy Kan Cans from Rosie Daze Boutique

Booties – Came to Slay Booties in Tan from Rosie Daze Boutique

Outfit 5:

Last but definitely not least is this gorgeous plum sweater dress. Sweater dresses are amazing because they are so comfortable and they look like you put so much effort into your outfit when really it took you 5 seconds. This sweater dress has a turtleneck detailing and it senches in at the waist which makes it incredibly flattering. I paired it with another pair of tan thigh highs. Black thigh highs would also look amazing paired with this dress!

Details:

Dress – Just Dreamy Sweater Dress in Plum from Rosie Daze Boutique

Boots – Orson Boots in Tan from Rosie Daze Boutique

I hope you enjoyed this year’s holiday outfit guide! Even if you can’t get your hands on these particular pieces, I’m sure you already own similar pieces and can go ahead and style what you have! Again – I wanted to feature smaller businesses in today’s blog as part of my own personal effort to shop small this holiday season. With that being said – I will be doing a special giveaway to one of the small businesses I featured in today’s blog! I unfortunately did not do a spring or summer giveaway this year, so for my winter/holiday giveaway I want to gift one of you with a $75 gift card to either Typically Blush Boutique or Rosie Daze Boutique! All you have to do is share this blog on whatever social media platform you’re on and tag me in a social media post where you’re wearing an outfit inspired by today’s blog at any point in the month of December. ❤️ I will pick a winner on December 27th!

*WINNER HAS BEEN CHOSEN – Congratulations Amber!*

I hope you all have a blessed and happy Christmas season. Sending nothing but love your way!

Wedding Series – Choosing a Color Scheme

Hi lovelies!

I’m back today with another wedding blog. 😊 Today I am going to reveal my wedding colors and walk you through how I decided on them.

Ever since I was a little girl, I always dreamed about what colors I would have displayed in my wedding details. Once I got older, I remember saving countless different Pinterest inspiration photos and trying to envision if those respective color schemes fit into the visual I had for my future wedding.

The biggest piece of advice I have is this – Pick. What. You. Want. A lot of people may have opinions, but at the end of the day YOU are the bride and the day is about YOU. I think it helps to consider the season you are getting married as well as colors that best reflect you and your fiancé’s personality, but at the end of the day pick the colors that make you happy!

Once you have colors picked out, I suggest getting swatches of those colors and laying them out to see how they coordinate together. This was extremely helpful in my case because I was SET on dusty rose as one of my colors, but it ended up being way too brown toned for the scheme I was going for. I would never have known that if I hadn’t ordered swatches!

As for my color scheme, I have always been very feminine and romantic so I knew I wanted my colors to reflect that. My favorite color of all time is blush, so I knew I wanted to incorporate that. Then I thought of colors that would accent and coordinate with blush really well. I ended up choosing vintage mauve and burgundy. Since I’m having a spring wedding, I will be using the burgundy as more of an accent color than a base color, but again that is just personal preference! Burgundy is usually associated with the fall months, but it can actually work as a beautiful accent to the soft spring tones.

Blush, Vintage Mauve, and Burgundy

It took some playing around, but ultimately I am so happy with my color scheme. I think it accompanies the season I am getting married in, it includes my favorite colors, and reflects my aesthetic perfectly. There will be pops of burgundy in the florals with most of the florals being blush. The bridal party will all be wearing vintage mauve. I will include some photos I’m using as inspiration below!

If you are getting married or are married, let me know what season you’re getting married in or were married in and what your color scheme is/was down below! 👇🏼

I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween and have a wonderful start to your November!

My Fav Fall Pieces & How to Style Them

Hi lovelies!

Happy October! 🎃 It is officially my favorite time of the year, October-December is completely superior to the other months in my opinion! Since fall is in full swing – I am going to share some of my favorite fall pieces and tips on what to style them with! It’s been awhile since I’ve shared any fashion content so I’m super excited to be back at it. 🤎

In the summer – I LIVE in dresses but in the fall I tend to retire them… except for this beauty! I mentioned this in a fall blog from last year but I wanted to mention it again because I think it is so perfect for autumn. I love the cool toned floral design against the warm toned mustard color. I also love the tie detail on the sleeves! I paired it with these brown sandals with oversized pearl detail. It isn’t quite freezing yet here in Ohio so I can still get away with wearing my cute sandals for a little bit longer! These are some of my new favorite pairs of shoes. The pearl detailing has my heart! If it’s cooler outside, this would be adorable with a cute pair of short boot socks and booties. The dress is from Target and the shoes are from Shein.

It is no secret that I love kimono’s but I usually wear them mostly in the spring and summer time. However, I came across this precious navy blue kimono with a gorgeous white floral design. It has ruffle detailing on both the sleeves and along the bottom. Navy is one of my favorite under rated colors for fall and one of my favorite colors (other than all of the shades of pink of course) in general. This would be super cute with a form fitting black dress underneath it, or a black tank top and some high waisted jeans. 😍 I bought this kimono at Walmart – They have TONS of them too! #DontSleepOnWalmart

Denim denim denim… time to bring it out ladies and gents! A good denim jacket is a staple in everyone’s closet. It’s so flattering on everyone and so versatile! I’ve been loving wearing it with a black tank with ruffle detailing along the bottom that I got from Target and either black leggings or black jeans for a more edgy look. You could also pair it with a cute fall dress as well for a more girly look! I paired it with these black sandals with spike detailing to go along with the edgy vibes, but black booties would also be adorable with this! The jacket is from Target and the sandals are from Shein.

Now onto the CUTEST lounge set I own… I mean can you even?! This Olive green leopard lounge set has stolen my heart. The sleeves are flowy and the shirt is long so you can either front tuck it into the shorts or tie a knot for a cute detail which is what I do. The shorts are high waisted and have the most adorable ruffle detailing on the bottom. I cannot handle the cuteness. Now that it’s the coziest time of year – Treat yourself to a lounge set! Mine is from a boutique called Typically Blush. 🙂

Buckle in everybody because now we’re getting into my favorite part… SWEATERS! Sweaters, in my opinion, are one of the best things about fall. You can never have too many cute ones. 😉 This leopard one is SUCH good quality and one of the softest pieces I have ever felt in my entire life. It’s leopard (so obviously I’m in love) but it also has distressed detailing throughout that makes it so unique. I cannot get enough of this sweater! I like to wear my sweaters with leggings, but black skinny jeans or a black skirt with this sweater front tucked (and some thigh high black boots… Okay I’m getting ahead of myself) would also be adorable! This sweater is also from Typically Blush.

This sweater may be my favorite thing I have snagged this season. It was definitely a favorite for everyone else too… it was restocked 3 times and sold out within 3 minutes each time. 😂 I feel ✨blessed✨ to have gotten my hands on this. Another great quality, cozy sweater! The confetti detailing is truly what sold me on this piece – I don’t have anything like it in my closet. It’s big and cozy and everything I love about fall clothing! Leggings with this sweater is the way to go in my opinion, but you could also dress it up with either light wash or dark wash denim and some booties. I also purchased this sweater from Typically Blush.

This sweater gives me alllll the candy corn and candy apple vibes. 🍎 I love this color combination for fall! I always get compliments on this sweater because the colors truly make it pop! Dress it down with leggings and a pair of mules or dress it up with a pair of dark denim and some booties. I purchased this at Target and it should still be available… snag it while you can and thank me later!

Last but not least… another adorable colorblock sweater! The colors in this one are more muted but still give off all of the fall vibes with the caramel, cream, and olive! I also love that this one has a turtleneck… so cute! 😍 This would be adorable with a light brown skirt and some booties, I included my taupe booties that I snagged while I worked at Skechers (yes believe it or not Skechers has cute booties). I featured these in a fall blog last year, I just cannot believe how comfortable they are and the adorable ruffle trim is a BONUS. The sweater is from a boutique called Rosie Daze. 🙂

Well… those are some of my favorite fall pieces and ideas of how to style them! I hope you enjoyed and I hope you found some cute ideas for new items you can add to your closet. 😍

Happy October! Hope it’s a spooky one 🎃

Travel Blog – Cross Country Roadtrip to Phoenix

Hi lovelies!

I’m back today with another travel blog! My fiancé is in the Army and will be stationed in Phoenix for the next several months so we decided to take 4 days and make a cross country roadtrip out of taking him out there! We stopped in 4 awesome cities: St. Louis, Oklahoma City, Santa Fe, and Phoenix! It was an absolute blast and I wanted to share my experience with all of you. I will *of course* be providing outfit details as well. 😉

St. Louis, MO

We stayed in downtown St. Louis so we got to truly explore what the city has to offer! We saw the famous arch (SO cool) which was probably my favorite excursion that we did, walked along the Mississippi River, and had dinner at a great local hole-in-the-wall burger place just outside of the city called Stacked STL (HIGHLY recommend if you’re ever in St. Louis)! The city was really chill and mellow, and everyone we encountered was really nice. This is definitely one of my new favorite midwestern cities! Kyle and I are coming back here next year for a concert and I’m so excited to explore it even more. 😊

Outfit details:

I wanted to wear something casual but cute for this midwestern downtown spot! I wore a black flowy tank top with a ruffle lining from Target, I wore a light blue floral kimono from TJ Maxx over it for a casual, breezy look, then I paired it with black VS leggings (black skinny jeans would also be adorable), and then these white booties from Amazon. White booties are a great way to make your look pop, plus they are so trendy right now! Lastly, I wore these white flower earrings with tassels from Francesca’s Boutique.

Oklahoma City, OK

Oklahoma City ended up being Kyle and I’s favorite of all of the cities we visited – which we were NOT expecting! Everyone here is beyond sweet and welcoming (we love that southern hospitality) and we had an amazing experience. We visited the Oklahoma State Capitol, ate dinner in the Plaza District at a place called the Mule, and then visited the site of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombings. This was another really mellow, chill city. We had so much fun!

Outfit details:

I wanted to wear something a little more girly. Ya’ll know I love kimonos, but this pink floral one might be my favorite! It’s long so it’s a great way to style up dresses. I wore a casual, black dress underneath. Both the kimono and the dress are from Target! I paired it with my super comfortable black platform sandals from Skechers and a pair of pearled hoop earrings that I ordered off of Shein! These earrings are one of my favorite pairs – I highly recommend them if you’re someone who loves hoops!

Quick Stop in Amarillo, TX

In between Oklahoma City, OK and Santa Fe, NM we stopped for lunch in Amarillo, TX! I would be lying if I said the main reason I stopped here wasn’t for the George Strait classic, but it was. It was right off Route 66 so we walked the adorable strip that was filled with colorful shops and restaurants. We ate at a delicious Mexican restaurant called Bracero’s and picked up some treats from a bakery called The Eatery on Route 66. Such a fun little stop!

Outfit details:

I LOVE wearing dresses in the summer, this pink dress from Amazon is one of my favorites! It has white spotted detailing on it, it’s off the shoulder, and it has flare sleeves. It’s so easy to throw on but it looks like you actually tried! I also have this dress in a yellow-green color because I love it so much. My brown sandals are from Target, they are so comfortable and a great dupe for the Steve Madden sandals! You can’t see very well – but I also wore earrings from Target that are a gold rainbow shape with white tassels at the end – a friend of mine suggested these to me and I am OBSESSED with them.

Santa Fe, NM

Santa Fe, NM was unlike anywhere I had ever been before – The views and the architecture here is unreal! It is definitely very Spanish-European style architecture and I am living for it. Kyle and I ended up getting takeout from a local Italian restaurant called Cafe Grazi because New Mexico isn’t allowing dine in just yet. We ended up doing some shopping in the plaza the restaurant was in while waiting for our food, naturally I found a Target. 😉 We also visited the New Mexico State Capitol as well as walk around the adorable shops in the downtown area.

Outfit details:

I wanted to keep it neutral but summery for Santa Fe. I wore a yellow bralette from Rue 21 with a plain black ribbed tank top from TJ Maxx over it. I paired it with some high waisted black shorts from Meijer (yes, Meijer! I was shopping for groceries when I walked past the clothing section and spotted them just before my Vegas trip last year). I am obsessed with this black kimono that I ordered from Shein, it goes with everything and I love the lace detailing on the sleeves! I wore the same Shein earrings and Skechers black platform sandals that I wore in Oklahoma City. I popped in a leopard print headband from Target for an accessory pop. My sunglasses are from Amazon – I’m obsessed with the shape of them!

Phoenix, AZ

I thought New Mexico had views… but boy does Arizona have even better ones! The mountains here are seriously STUNNING. Our drive through Arizona was absolutely breathtaking. We stayed in downtown Phoenix and walked to a downtown restaurant called The Counter which probably had my favorite food of the whole trip. I seriously recommend it if you’re ever in downtown Phoenix! We also visited the Arizona State Capitol building. The weather here is amazing and once again the downtown area was pretty mellow and chill.

Outfit details:

I’m wearing the same tank top I wore in St. Louis but with a different kimono from Forever 21. I love this one because it’s dark blue with a warm floral pattern running through it. I paired it with a pair of Target leggings and the same brown Target sandals from Amarillo! I wanted to keep it casual and comfortable since I was about to go on a plane in the pictures you’re seeing. Kimonos in the spring and summer and cardigans in the fall and winter are a great way to throw a cute piece over a comfy outfit.

…and that’s it! We had a blast on this roadtrip out west. I flew home alone and Kyle ended up heading to Southern Arizona where he will be stationed for the next 5 months. While I will miss him, I am so thankful for these treasured memories together!

Thank you for reading this far. I hope you all are having a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

Xoxoxo 💙

Wedding Series – Choosing Vendors

Hi lovelies!

Today we are moving onto the second installment of my wedding series, perhaps one of the most important parts of any wedding, choosing wedding vendors! When it comes to choosing wedding vendors, I think the best thing to keep in mind is prioritizing what is most important to you and what you want to splurge on vs. what you would rather save money on. For example, the quality of my wedding photos is extremely important to me so I’m willing to spend a little extra money on a reputable photographer who’s work I admire greatly.

I am going to give a list of the vendors that I chose for my wedding, all of whom have been excellent to work with so far! If you are in the Columbus, Ohio area and are engaged – these are all vendors I recommend!

Photographer: Natalie Baker Photography

Like I mentioned earlier, when it came time to choose my photographer I knew that this is something I was willing to splurge on. Photos are so important to me, and something that I plan to cherish for many years to come. I also wanted a photographer who had an aesthetic that matched the vibes of my spring wedding. I remember looking on Facebook for a photographer when I came across Natalie Baker Photography. I had never heard of her before, and I just happened to stumble on her page. I was immediately drawn into her style of photography and right away I knew I wanted her to be my photographer! She did our engagement photos as well, and we could not be happier with how they turned out! If you want more details on our engagement photo session and my tips, check out the first blog in my wedding series!

DJ: Josh Staley Productions

When it came to the DJ, I had absolutely no idea where to start. I don’t know of any DJ’s in my circle, but I knew I wanted to hire a reputable company. I turned to my wedding coordinator who gave a list of DJ’s that she’s worked with and highly recommended. After researching all of them, I ended up going with Josh Staley Productions! They are a whole production team with loads of experience, not to mention I thought their price was fair! They account for every little detail and meet up with their clients a few times before the wedding to ensure everything will run smoothly and how the bride and groom will want it to run.

Wedding Coordinator: Kayla Walton Weddings

I wasn’t planning on hiring a wedding planner because I was confident I could handle the task of planning a wedding on my own. However, my soon to be mother in law suggested I hire a day of coordinator who was a friend of the family. I was immediately sold! I get to plan my own wedding, but I have someone along the way with me helping me make sure I don’t miss anything and then, on the day of, they completely run everything which takes a huge weight off of my shoulders. Kayla has been a dream to work with, we meet every few months to discuss details and wedding planning progress. I know I will not regret having her on my wedding day to take the reigns!

Venue: Bridgewater Banquet & Conference Center

The venue was another thing that was super important to me, but I also wanted to stay within a certain budget. Right after I got engaged, the first thing I wanted to do was book my venue and secure my date. I messaged multiple venues, went on multiple venue tours, and submitted a lot of price inquiries. I recommend taking your time with this portion of wedding planning because this is the place that will set the scene for your big day! My fiancé and I found Bridgewater, they will be doing our drinks, food, ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all within a budget we deemed acceptable. They have a beautiful ballroom that was the perfect size for our amount of guests as well. It checked off all the boxes while still being budget friendly – the perfect combination!

Flowers: The Flowerman – Columbus

When it came to flowers, I immediately knew that I wanted my flowers to be real. Again – if this is something that isn’t important to you – I recommend considering faux flowers as a way to save money. However, I love anything floral and this is something I wanted to splurge on! When my sister in law got married back in 2016, I remember her using The Flowerman. They are a floral company that allows you and your bridal party to come in and DIY your own bouquets (with their help of course). It saves a little bit of money and creates a fun, unique experience for all involved. I decided to use them as well, and I am so excited for my DIY day!

Stationery: Ann’s Bridal Bargains

A good example of something I didn’t find it necessary to splurge on was stationary. My other sister in law who got married this past December used an online wedding stationary company called Ann’s Bridal Bargains. They have SO many templates to choose from and you can further customize any of the templates. So far, I have done my save the dates through them and I was super happy with how they turned out – I will insert a picture below! Because of how happy I was with my save the dates, I will also be doing my invitations, programs, and thank you’s from here as well!

Hair & Makeup: West Oak Salon

Hair and makeup is another thing I knew I would be super picky about. However, many people recommended me to a local beauty shop that I have been following for awhile and that I have heard nothing but amazing things about! They will come to you or you can come to them which is a super nice option to have. I also thought for their level of experience, their prices were pretty fair. They are the sweetest group of stylists and I’m super excited to have them be a large part of my big day!

Cake & Dessert: Birdie’s Cupcakes

For our wedding cake and the desserts at our wedding, my mother in law recommended a local baker who owns a company called Birdie’s Cupcakes. I had actually heard of her myself and remember being blown away by her work, so when my mother in law recommended her I was all for it! Her cakes are some of the most beautiful cakes I have ever seen, and I was so happy I was able to book her due to her high demand of clientele! We have also tried her cake before and it is delicious. 😋

I hope you enjoyed reading through my list of major vendors and some tid bits of advice along the way. While there are obviously a lot of wonderful people involved in making my special day come to fruition, these are just some of the major elements! Again, I have had a great experience so far with all of these vendors and highly recommend them.

Have a wonderful August and stay safe! I will be back soon with more fashion content next. ☺️

Travel Blog – Savannah, GA

Hi lovelies!

Today I am BACK with another travel blog! Oh how I’ve missed doing these 😍 I was planning on doing another installation of my wedding series today, but I wanted to post this travel blog first! Most of my planned trips for this summer were either canceled or postponed because of the Coronavirus, so Kyle and I decided to plan a little summer getaway for the two of us and we decided on Savannah, Georgia. I have always wanted to visit this charming southern town and I’m glad I did because we had the most magical time!

Eating

I know this is not a food blog but I would be doing a disservice to all of you if I didn’t talk about the food in Savannah. Kyle and I went into multiple food comas to say the least and we do not regret it one bit 😂 I am going to list all of the places we ate at below 👇🏼

– Vic’s on the River: We went here COMPLETELY on a whim, the restaurant we had planned on going to had a long wait so we looked up nearby options and found this one… so glad we did 😍 It’s definitely more of an up scale restaurant that sits on the Savannah River, but it’s perfect for date night or if you want to splurge on some AMAZING food and wine

– B. Matthew’s: I got this recommendation from my online research of the best places to eat in Savannah, and boy they did not let me down. It is the perfect brunch spot for people like me and Kyle who have different tastes when it comes to brunch food (he prefers breakfast and I prefer lunch)!

– Treylor Park: Treylor Park was recommended to me by a friend, it’s a fun little hole in the wall restaurant that serves some AMAZING American classics, if you like fried food and sandwiches you will like this place!

– The Funky Brunch Cafe: This is another restaurant we went to completely on a whim because we had driven by it on our way to another restaurant we wanted to go to but the wait was too long. I am so glad we decided to come to this restaurant because it had some AMAZING breakfast food! Not to mention, the interior was so colorful and spunky 😍 I love cute restaurants!

– Vinnie Van Go Go’s Pizza: This pizza place was recommended to me by a friend again and I have to say… it was some of the best pizza Kyle and I have ever had

Things to Do

When it comes to Savannah, simply walking along the beautiful river, visiting all the shops along the cobblestone streets, and viewing all of the historical architecture is fun in and of itself – we did a lot of that! However, there are a few excursions I would recommend. First off, take a tour of one of the mansions! Kyle and I toured the historical Mercer Mansion and not only was it beautiful, the history behind it is so fascinating!

Another thing I recommend doing is visiting the beautiful and infamous Forsyth Park. It is a must see in Savannah and makes for great photo ops!

Another thing I recommend is taking a beach day at nearby Tybee Island! It’s only a 20 minute straight shot from Savannah which makes it so convenient ☀️🌴 Kyle and I had a blast there!

Outfit Details

Whenever I visit somewhere hot like the south, I live in dresses! I wore two on this trip – the off the shoulder bell sleeve dress with gray and white stripes has been mentioned in this blog many times because I live in it 😂 I featured it last in my engagement photo session outfit details! I got it on Amazon ☺️ The palm tree dress I thought would be perfect for Savannah and I received SO many compliments on it! It’s off the shoulder and it has some ruffle detailing both on the sleeve and lined on the bottom. I paired it with my black platform sandals. I picked this dress up on Amazon as well! Let’s just say I had a phase where I was constantly ordering dresses off of Amazon 😂 But hey, it paid off!

The colorful kimono you see me wearing in the river picture is from SHEIN! SHEIN is another place I have been ordering a lot of pieces from lately – so many options for such a good price point! I paired this kimono with a black tank top and black high waisted shorts and the same black platform sandals as before (another staple of mine)!

Lastly, the bathing suit you see me wearing is another Amazon find! It’s an off the shoulder yellow top with high waisted bottoms that have a yellow and green floral print, so cute! Amazon has SO many great bathing suit options!

If you’re looking for a fun couples getaway or even a fun weekend trip with your girlfriends, I HIGHLY recommend Savannah! It was such a charming town with so much history. Plus – the food. That is all.

Wedding Series – Engagement Photos

Hi lovelies!

It feels SO good to be back! I decided to take a few month hiatus away from blogging so I could focus on finishing my undergrad, graduating, and readjusting to post-college life during a global pandemic. My heart is with you all during this time and I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well.

I am coming back in full swing and starting a WEDDING series! I shared my engagement story on my NYC travel blog in case you missed it, but I thought it would be fun to take you along on my wedding planing journey. I have had an absolute BLAST wedding planning so far, it is definitely my kind of thing. I am so excited to share it all with you! Of course I will still be doing fashion blogs, lifestyle blogs, and giveaways in between so don’t worry if you missed that content. 😉 Now let’s talk engagement photos!

Photographer – The amazing photographer that will also be doing our wedding photos, Natalie Baker Photography, did our engagement session. Most wedding photographers will incorporate your engagement session into their packages, and I definitely think that is something to inquire about when hiring a wedding photographer. It will also give you good insight as to how your wedding photos will look!

Venue – When choosing a venue, I think it’s important to incorporate a few different elements.

First, you want it to be a place that fits into your style and photo aesthetic. Second, consider picking a place that has some sort of significance or importance to you and your fiancé’s life. Third, consider shooting in more than one location if possible. It creates more versatility in your photos!

My fiancé and I were originally scheduled to have our engagement photos done in the fall, so we were originally planning on shooting in some kind of park where the pretty fall scenery could be our background. However, we had to move our engagement photo session to this spring due to conflict in Kyle’s military schedule so we decided to rework our location choice. Kyle came up with the idea of doing photos at the Ohio Statehouse in downtown Columbus and that gave me the idea to choose a second location at the Scioto Mile in downtown Columbus. Kyle has worked in the Statehouse and currently works right across from it. It has been a pivotal part of his career early in his young adult life. The Scioto Mile has always been my favorite part of downtown Columbus, and Kyle and I have had some of my favorite dates there. Not to mention, the Statehouse has GORGEOUS exterior and interior architecture and the Scioto Mile has the gorgeous bridge, river, and downtown skyline view that I have always loved.

Outfits – Would this even be a blog on this website if I didn’t talk about our outfits? 😉 This is an important element to engagement photos in my opinion. I suggest picking out outfits that coordinate with the venue as well as coordinate with each other. I had originally thought about wearing a black dress with burnt orange detailing, and then I remembered I was a doing a spring photo shoot and that would not be fitting. Kyle originally planned on wearing a gray polo with khaki’s until we realized that would be a little too casual for our Statehouse photos and it also wouldn’t match my outfit that well. Obviously wear what YOU want, they are your photos! But I found these tips helpful when deciding what I was gonna wear. 😊

We decided since the Statehouse is a more formal location, we should reflect that in our outfits. I wore a white, modest dress with see through chiffon sleeves and ruffle detailing. I paired it with brown wedges and large statement studs. Kyle wore a red and navy suit.

For our photos at the Scioto Mile, I knew I wanted a dress that was more casual. I kept it simple in color and print, but I wanted it to stand out in style. I decided to wear this white and gray striped off the shoulder dress with big ruffle bell sleeves. I paired it with these silver strappy sandals and the same statement studs as before. Kyle wore his uniform so we could feature it in our photos!

That was our engagement shoot! I am SO happy with how it turned out and I am so thankful for our awesome photographer, she was so easy to work with and made us feel comfortable the entire time. Not to mention her work is BEAUTIFUL.

Let me know how you like this wedding series and what content you want to see from me! I think I will do a blog around selecting all of your major vendors next. ☺️

Have a happy late spring / early summer! See you next month! ☀️

A Little Chit-Chat Update 🌸

Hi lovelies!

I hope everyone has had a great start to 2020! I wanted to publish a chit-chatty blog update for you all now that we’re deep into the New Year!

First off – I REBRANDED! Back in mid-November (around my one year blog anniversary), I wanted to revamp my website. We went from a marble and lilac theme to a blush and lilac floral theme! I also changed my name from Sarah Magdalene Fashion to Style with Sarah to incorporate a more broad range of topics outside of just fashion (which is still my main focus). I worked really hard trying to adjust my website to truly reflect me, and I am so proud of how it turned out! 😊 I hope you all love it as much as I do.

Next – I want discuss my new posting schedule. I started this blog in the fall of 2018 (wow)! I originally was going to post weekly, but quickly realized that my schedule wouldn’t allow for that. I then started posting bi-weekly (typically on the weekends) and that has essentially been my posting schedule ever since. If a posting day came and I was unable to create a blog, I would just do it the following weekend. However, between school, work, wedding planning, job hunting, and all of the other adulting things… I will be adjusting my posting schedule. Instead of bi-weekly, I will be posting once a month. This isn’t a drastic change, but one that allows me to curate content that I’m proud of because I’ll have more time in between blogs!

My goal is to publish a blog on the last weekend of every month. It will include travel blogs, decoration blogs, Q & A’s, and OF COURSE fashion fashion fashion! Hauls, outfit ideas, and so much more. Feel free to suggest anything you would like to see from me at any time!

Wherever you are and whatever you’re doing I hope it’s a good one. Thank you so much for all of the support you have shown to my blog and website over the past year. I will be doing my next giveaway (winter edition) next month so stay tuned for that! Love you all! 😊
